Plateau State is blessed with some of Nigeria’s most productive farmland and a climate that supports crops grown almost nowhere else in the country. The Plateau First agenda is built on a simple conviction: that strength should translate into livelihoods.
From productivity to prosperity
The campaign’s focus is on the whole value chain — helping farmers produce more, storing and processing what they grow, and connecting them to markets that pay a fair price. When productivity rises and waste falls, incomes grow and jobs follow.
Special attention goes to young people and women, who make up much of the agricultural workforce. Practical support — inputs, training, and access to finance — can turn subsistence into enterprise.
Jobs rooted at home
The ambition is a Plateau where young people build their futures at home rather than leaving to seek opportunity elsewhere — where the land itself becomes the state’s greatest employer.
